Mike Fentz flunked Flute-a-phone class in fourth grade. Fifth grade finally featured his forte…doodling cartoons in his textbooks, a habit that annoyed educators and amused classmates.

After three years in art school, he crisscrossed the country as a caricaturist for four years before finding his way back to Indianapolis as a freelance illustrator. Six years later “fat cat” Garfield found Mike fettered to a drawing board, brandishing an airbrush. For the next twenty eight years, he was shanghaied into Garfield’s licensing program, where he designed, drew and painted the fat feline’s fetish in storybooks, calendars, posters, greeting cards, garments, games, etc. Mike had come full circle…doodling cartoons in books once again…and again…and again…

For three decades Mike’s work has been published worldwide for Garfield and other properties. From cartooning to historical illustration, caricature to graphic design, the persistent picture maker has produced images in various mediums: Oil, acrylic, graphite, ink, pastel, charcoal, airbrush and, in the new millennium, digital media.

So, drop into the 2-D (or not 2-D) demonstrative domain of Mike Fentz; where drama, dreams and drollery coalesce into a cavalcade of creativity…yup, sorta’ like that.
